Play Retrô: Dream Theater - Metropolis pt 1 (1992)

Última sexta de abril e com o final de semana começando com dia do trabalho, a banda de hoje representa muito do ofício musical. Como já apresentamos um resumo da formação do Dream Theater aqui, vamos falar um pouco sobre o álbum da música de hoje: "Images and Words".

Lançado em 1992 o "Image and Words" foi o segundo álbum do Dream Theater e logo foi se tornando um dos melhores álbuns musicais no geral, além de um dos mais populares do prog metal devida sua divulgação. 

Com "Pull me Under" como single de divulgação e lançamento do disco, ela logo se tornou "o maior hit" da banda com seu clip passando na MTv. Todas as oito canções são muito boas, e, "Metropolis pt 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper" chamava uma atenção extra por esse "parte 1".

Isso foi colocado como uma piada pela banda, contudo, os fãs pediam pela parte 2. A música até ganharia vida durante as gravações do "Falling into Infinite" mas como a música ficou com 20 minutos, foi vetada pela gravador a ideia de dividir o álbum em dois. Com isso a banda acabou trabalhando na ideia de um álbum conceitual, e assim, nasceu em 1999 "Metropolis pt 2: Scenes from a Memory".
